Hi guys just Bought a 5.0 motor for a rebuilt 306, dont want tons of horse just something to scared those little civics away lol!! Any ideas would be more than appreciated since is my first built ever thanks to my two friends andhe cool peops im getting some ideas, george and danny...
Does the 5.0 need a rebuild? 306 won't get you any more hp and not worth doing unless you need to rebuild the bottom end. Aluminum heads, a cam and an intake will get you around 300 rwhp. You would need bigger injectors, 24# or 30#. A tune will help as well. You may have to upgrade your fuel pump and also get a MAF and throttle body. Add some 3.73 or 4.10's to the rear end. Put longtubes, h pipe and catback on as well. Car should move ok. While at it shed some weight from the car too to help with the cars speed. Get some good lower control arms like the Maximum Motorsports ones. FMS uppers should do the job you need. Shocks and struts are always good along with springs. Bilstein and Koni are great shocks/strut choices as well as H&R for springs. If you are looking for a drag car then there may be better choices than what I suggested.
Some companies make complete top end packages. Trick flow, Edelbrock and Holley do. They usually run around $2000 for it all.
Nice thanks rob for the info helps, I'm not looking for something crazy just something that sounds nice, I think the motor needs a rebuilt is stock still has the ac and smog pump hook up that's how stock it is...
did you get a car yet??? if not i would take the money you would spend on the rebuild and get a turn key running car. If you are set on rebuilding a motor. rebuild the motor out of the car you buy or buy a rolling chassi and find a donor motor to rebuild
just my

i like his idea to be honest whith the motor he has he can put together over time and get a running already supercharged car then switch out when the fresh motor is all together
