Added a couple pieces the puzzle today consisting of ported Trick Flow heads, "F" cam & ATI Pro damper. Still need rockers, gasket set & pushrods before I tear into it.

Well, motor is torn down to the shortblock. Couple suprises, #1 Cam I pulled out is an "E" cam #2 Rockers are 1.7 Crane "Cobra" rockers #3 Motor is a stock bore 302, studded, cylinders look good, pistons have had valve reliefs enlarged #4 Headstuds & longtube headers are a fucking nightmare!!!! I had to remove studs by hand so I could get pass side head off. #5 No sign of blown intake or headgaskets. #6 Snapped off 1 bolt in timing cover #7 Stock balancer had spun, outer ring was "cocked" For all the haters that said no way I ran 120.01 with stock E7TE heads

Todays progress consisted of some headwork. Heads were set up with .600 lift spring package consisting of 2 springs plus damper. I am running .512 lift cam so I deemed this excessive. I, with a little help from some friends removed inner small spring from heads which will bring me down to a more realistic .540 lift spring package. Also after further examination of heads I found a little work could be done to clean up ports.Trick Flow engineers did they're homework so ports were not reshaped, just cleaned up a bit.

I did some more extensive porting today. Intake ports were done with 80 grit rolls & left rough for fuel atomization. Exhaust ports/bowls were done 1st with 80 grit & final polish done with 120 grit rolls.

Looks good Rob !! Say good buy to that T-5 this year ..LOL . You should be making 500 ++ rear wheel no problem . Start budgeting for the tremmec now ... LOL !!!
Made a little more progress today, cam/timimg chain/front of the motor buttoned up. Deck surfaces have been prepared for heads. I couldn't install heads today because I need a second set of hands to hold headers out of the way. hint-hint.

What kind of head gaskets are you using ? Always check for PTV before you button it up .... If you don't you might be sorry ! Just ask ED .. Also make sure you have the correct push rod length ... Well this is my .... Oh' and if you need help ...... I like beer and pizza ... 18 year old strippers too !!..... But I'll settle for the first two ........ This time !
Fel Pro Loc-wire headgaskets. PTV clearance, rocker geometry, & pushrod length will be addressed once I can get heads on the shortblock. I only plan on doing this once.

I had thought about Cometic but with the money situation & amount of boost I'm running I came to the conclusion that Felpro's are up to the task. We'll see I guess.

Made a little bit of progress past few days. Heads are on & torqued, rockers on & adjusted although not too optimistic about valve adjustment. I've never had adjustable rockers on SBF before & process gave me fits.I guess I'll see when I fire it off.Headers are on as well.
