i kno its a good thing to do but isnt there only one way the top timing chain sprocket lines up with the cam peg, like what u could be 180 out but thats it rite????fill me in i just dont get it
ya thats what i do but when i had the 331 built i had that shop put in cam an degree it just to be safe but now that i have the motor apart i was thinking of gettin rid of the f-cam i feel like im losing a lil power using it what do u think
I am running the f cam in my 306 with the blower. I think it is a great n/a or blower cam. Aren't you upgrading your intake? you might notice a big power gain with the new intake flowing more air with the combo.
Cam timing is not like ignition timing . You can not install it 180 out as long as the timing marks on the sprockets are lined up . But, unless you check the degreeing of the cam , you won't know if the cam is with in spec and your getting all the cam has to offer. Because of different machine tolarences from engine to engine it is a good idea to check . When degreeing the cam by the cam card your just insuring that the cam will make the power it was desighned to with in the specified operating range it was intended for . You can change where it makes power by advancing or retarding the cam timing aswell .
